Blog post #4

For my media text, i picked Supernatural. Supernatural is genre bending in a way that not every episode is the same, it has its own meaning to the main story, while keeping in touch with the focus of the episode. It is also genre bending in a way that the director put every religious myths to add more of a story. Just like every episode, there is always a certain problem. For example a god breaks loose, demons go on a killing rampage, Go back in time to get ashes of a mythical bird. What is not so genre breaking is that most episodes when one is in trouble, the other one always comes in to save the day. But most of the unique problems they have every episode, it all somehow ties up into the story. I don't believe supernatural is strongly a single genre, That's why to me i believe is genre bending. The show is scary, yes of course, But it also has action, comedy and even romance. With every episode you never know what you will get next.
And sometimes they have to fight each other. The background of the story is pretty much Sam and Dean are hunters ever since they we're kids, they hunt monsters and mythical creatures to try to get peace in the world, some things never go there way, but in the end they always live, sometimes. That's a genre bending back story on it's own.
